3. One segment from the National Geographic documentary, "Guns, Germs, and Steel," authored by historian Dr. Jared Diamond, will be shown to the students, featuring an encounter between Francisco Pizarro and the Incan Emperor Atahualpa in Cajamarca in 1532.

September 8th and September 9th, 2016:

Students will be assigned the textbook, The American Vision, at the start of class today. The text will not be brought back and forth to school; however, it will be a resource for students throughout the year. Please store it in a safe place and home, and do not lose it. The book is valued at approximately $77 and will have to be replaced if lost.

Students will be signed into Google Classroom today for the first time. Each student will be assigned a Chromebook, which they will sign into using their VBCPS student e-mail. If necessary, I will be able to reset passwords for any student who has forgotten theirs. In addition the following materials will be discussed or distributed:
